NES Rentals Joins Industry-Wide Effort In First-Ever Best Practices Documentation For AWP Training and Familiarization

CHICAGO, IL, February 8, 2010 - NES Rentals Holdings, Inc., one of the largest aerial equipment rental providers in the country, announced it has joined several leading organizations and dealers in the aerial work platform (AWP) industry to develop and document best practices for equipment operator training and familiarization.

In this joint effort led by the American Rental Association, the Association of Equipment Manufacturers, the Associated Equipment Distributors, the International Powered Access Federation and the Scaffold Industry Association, NES participated in ongoing and intensive roundtable discussions and writing and editing efforts that led to the Statement of Best Practices of General Training and Familiarization for Aerial Work Platform Equipment. The Statement of Best Practices of General Training and Familiarization for Aerial Work Platform Equipment clarifies general training and model-specific familiarization of AWP equipment in an effort to educate users and increase safe use of that equipment.

"We were pleased to be invited to participate in this safety consortium to document what we agreed were necessary industry guidelines by which all AWP training and familiarization efforts could be measured," stated Teresa Kee, Director, Environmental, Health and Safety for NES Rentals. "NES has put a tremendous effort into implementing safety standards for our own employees and customers and we are excited to share that knowledge and experience with others in the industry. We are passionate about the safety of those using our equipment and look forward to continuing to work with this consortium to improve industry safety education."
